In an effort to recognize dairies with exceptional reproductive programs, the Dairy Cattle Reproduction Council (DCRC) has created the National Reproduction Awards Program. The first-ever recipients will be rewarded for successfully implementing management procedures and achieving high reproductive efficiency.

“The DCRC has created the National Reproduction Awards to recognize dairy producers working diligently to reverse the negative trends in dairy cattle reproduction,” says DCRC President Dr. Ricardo Chebel. “We are asking industry professionals to nominate these high-performing herds so the DCRC can recognize their accomplishments throughout the industry.”

Producers must be nominated by professionals who serve the dairy industry, such as veterinarians, genetic and pharmaceutical company representatives, DHI field personnel or extension specialists. The one-page nomination form is due by May 1st.

Judges will review the initial applications and select the top nominees, who will be asked to provide additional information about their operation. This information will help the judges select platinum, gold and silver winners, who will be honored at DCRC’s November 2009 regional meetings.
