The Texas AgriLife Extension Service for Harris County will present a “Prospective Wine-Grape Growers Workshop" from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 23 at its offices, located at 3033 Bear Creek Drive in Houston.

“In recent years there has been an increase in the number of small-acreage landowners interested in growing wine grapes,” said Fritz Westover, Gulf Coast viticulture associate for AgriLife Extension. “The workshop provides an overview of the unique requirements and risks associated with establishing and operating a commercial vineyard in Texas.”

Westover said workshop topics will include necessary viticulture experience, site selection, risk factors, labor considerations and operational costs.

Registration is $125 per person or $200 per couple and includes a catered lunch.

To register, go to http://agrilifevents.tamu.edu. For more information, contact Westover at 281-855-5608 or [email protected].
