AgSource Cooperative Services announced it has acquired L.G., Inc., an agricultural testing business, located in Ellsworth, Iowa. "LGI Labs" was purchased from Mike and Terry Lindaman and offers extensive soil, water and environmental testing services to clients in Iowa and surrounding states. LGI has been owned and operated by the Lindamans since it' founding in 1984 and has grown to be the largest soil testing laboratory in Iowa and one of the largest in the country.

LGI is located approximately 45 miles from the AgSource Laboratory in Belmond, IA.  The cooperative intends to operate both facilities without material changes in operation through the end of 2010 in order to prevent any disruption to client services during the fall soil testing season.  Plans will be established and implemented in 2011 to allow more efficiency from the two operations.

"We believe by joining the AgSource team we will be better to provide both new services and improved services that on our own would have been difficult to achieve," commented Mike Lindaman.

"AgSource is pleased to add the business into our network of laboratories, which now projects the cooperative into a position as one of the largest soil testing businesses in the country," stated Pete Giacomini Chief Operating Officer of AgSource. "The addition of the LGI allows us to not only better serve the needs of Iowa customers, but also strengthens our laboratory services throughout the entire area we serve."  In addition to the Belmond and Ellsworth, AgSource offers soil testing services at laboratories in Nebraska, Oregon and Wisconsin."

AgSource, headquartered in Verona, Wis., is a subsidiary of Cooperative Resources International and a member-owned cooperative that provides agricultural and environmental laboratory analysis and management information services to members and clients from North America and overseas from nine  locations in the Midwest and Northwest.
