The Nebraska Department of Agriculture is coordinating a beef industry bus tour to Montana, Aug.18-21, for those involved in the cattle feeding industry in Nebraska.

Montana is ranked seventh nationally for the number of beef cows, and is the third largest importer of feeder cattle into Nebraska. The tour, called, "Big Sky Cattle Drive," will create opportunities to build new relationships with Montana cattle producers in an effort to grow import numbers of feeder cattle into Nebraska feedlots and reinforce the unique combination of access to grain production, ethanol byproducts and the extensive cattle feeding industry which Nebraska offers.

The tour will spotlight cow-calf operations in eastern and central Montana, and leading beef industry businesses, with the latest technology and developments in genetics, feed efficiency, research and marketing.

The registration fee of $225 covers all meals, bus travel and hotel accommodations during the tour for participants. Early bird deadline is July 15. Contact Lynn Gordon at [email protected] or 800-422-6692 to receive complete packet of registration materials. Space is limited to 40 participants, so register early.

Tour sponsors include Nebraska Department of Agriculture, Nebraska Soybean Board, Nebraska Corn Board, Nebraska Ethanol Board, Elanco, Land O'Lakes Purina Feeds, and Montana Stockgrowers.
