SEE FOR YOURSELF: These unique cow sculptures at Tapnell Farm, Isle of Wight, would be a neat addition to your European travel plans. Hayley Hayhurst

A bonus of having a daughter living in England is discovering a wealth of travel opportunities. While our Hayley lives in London, she is an adventurer and always keeps a trained eye for agricultural destinations.

Her recent visit to the Isle of Wight included Tapnell Farm and The Garlic Farm. Tapnell Farm is an award-winning, nearly 40-year-old dairy operation that was converted into an “ecotourism business.” Owned by the Turney family, the site now features numerous options for lodging, eating and activities. They tout luxury glamping, farm cottages, a large country manor house, safari tents, pods and lodges.

Hayley enjoyed a delicious burger at The Cow Bar & Restaurant. The dog-friendly farm has something for all ages. An aqua park, football golf course, archery and axe throwing, free-range egg collecting, and a farm shop are favorites. The nearby beaches, a 6-mile trail and bike rentals also keep visitors busy. Kids love the wallaby and meerkat talks and sledge slides. More information is available at tapnellfarm.com.

A few garlic cloves

After I tried Hayley’s gift of delicious barbecue sauce from The Garlic Farm, I decided I must include this farm’s story. The Boswell family spearheads the certified organic farm’s legacy that began with Granny Norah planting a few garlic cloves in her garden over 60 years ago. The family has created a range of garlic-infused products, from garlic mayonnaise to chutneys, black garlic beer and even ice cream.

You can “shop, eat and sleep” garlic at thegarlicfarm.co.uk. Serving breakfast through dinner, including afternoon tea, and providing a stay at a holiday cottage or a luxury yurt, the farm offers gracious hospitality.

These sites are now on my bucket list, in addition to Tapnell Farm’s psychedelic cow sculptures.
