Mike Pearson takes a look at the protests across the globe by European farmers, miners and others being impacted by environmental legislation.

Last week, a protest happened in Warsaw, Poland over the Green Deal by farmers and other professionals whose livelihoods are impacted by the Green Deal.

The European Green Deal is a series of proposals to limit greenhouse gases and eliminate climate change.

Protesters say the European Green Deal was created by people who don't understand agriculture and the result is pushing farming costs and inputs even higher.

Some are referring to the legislation as green poison. Many at the protest say the environmental goals come at the expense of farmers.

The protesters had more grievances beyond Green Deal -- one is the grain imports from Ukraine.

When Russia invaded Ukraine, farmers began looking for a market to sell their grain. So the grain started piling in from Ukraine.

This led to a grain glut and low prices for Polish farmers.

Polish farmers say the assistance program offered by the Poland government is a drop in bucket compared to losses they are facing.

Protesters are also concerned how this grain glut could impact the global agricultural market.

Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Mike Pearson, farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
