Jeff and Andrea Mitzner, Wanatah, weren't the only Hoosiers grabbing the spotlight recently. Several members of the Indiana Young Farmers Association also earned national recognition.

Tristan Emery, Posey County, won the National Young Farmers spokesperson competition. Featured in Indiana Prairie Farmer in December, Emery championed a national animal identification system. She was also named the first recipient of the Townsend award for agricultural communications at Purdue University.

The National Young Farmers also named Brad Lawler, Knightstown, as NYFEA Outstanding Member of the Year. "Only one member per year is selected from the national membership," says Lisa Chaudion, executive director of the Indiana Young Farmers Association. "So needless to say, we were very pleased."

In addition, Lynn Reinhart, Butler, won the NYFEA farm and ranch contest, with Mike Whaley, Otwell, who received second place. CJ Fleenor, Orleans, captured the Youth Spokesperson division. And Pat Schultz, Culver, won more Education for American Agriculture than anyone.
