World Pork Expo Seminars To Address Hot Topics

From food safety to reproduction, the Pork Checkoff's PORK Academy at the World Pork Expo will address a range of producer-oriented topics

The Pork Checkoff announced this week topics for the Producer Opportunity for Revenue and Knowledge Academy sessions on Wednesday, June 5, and Thursday, June 6, during the World Pork Expo at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Des Moines.

"PORK Academy offers an outstanding lineup of leading experts who will address issues facing producers today," says David Ray, chair of the Checkoff's Producer and State Services Committee. "These sessions will provide attendees with information to help operate their farms more effectively and to stay current on industry trends and challenges."

The 2013 PORK Academy seminar topics include:

Wednesday, June 5: Secure Pork Supply; Feed Price Update and Feed Efficiency Drivers; Protect, Prepare and Prevent: Securing Your Farm and Your Reputation; and Export Issues and World Markets.

Thursday, June 6: Food Safety Analysis; Swine Influenza; Reproductive Decision Tree; Industry Productivity Analysis; and Sow Housing.

In addition to the PORK Academy seminars, the Pork Checkoff is sponsoring an "Everything's Better with Bacon!" event at the Pork Checkoff hospitality tent. Visitors can watch live radio interviews, sample bacon and grab breakfast daily.

At the Pork Checkoff Booth in the Varied Industries Building, producers can pick up new Pork Quality Assurance Plus resources, including recordkeeping and safety benchmarking tools and new customizable standard operating procedure templates.
