Webster's Prime of Kalamazoo has been recognized by the Beef Checkoff Program as the 2012 National Foodservice Beef Backer Independent Operator of the Year. Chef Stefan Johnson and Sous Chef Jud McMichael from Webster's Prime were honored at the 2013 Cattle Industry Annual Convention in Tampa, Florida.
"Today we honor Webster's Prime for its leadership in promoting and selling beef," says Dale Oeschger, a Michigan cattleman and chairman of the Michigan Beef Industry Commission. "This award is our way of thanking Webster's Prime for providing their patrons with an outstanding variety of unique and delicious beef-eating experiences."
Started in 2007, the National Foodservice Beef Backer Awards program was developed to recognize foodservice operators that exhibit leadership and innovation in beef menuing and promotion. A judging panel of industry professionals selected one winner in the following three categories: Independent Operator, Chain Operator and Innovator of the Year.
"We are thrilled to receive this prestigious award and be one of three restaurants in the U.S. named a National Foodservice Beef Backer by America's farmers and ranchers," says Stefan Johnson, General Manager and Executive Chef at Webster's Prime. "We pride ourselves on providing the best-quality and greatest variety of beef options, and we thank the Beef Checkoff for recognizing the unique and extraordinary beef items we've created for our guests."
The menu at Webster's Prime includes USDA Prime, Natural, Premium Angus, Kobe, Dry Aged, and Grass Fed beef, allowing guests to try a different cut or type of beef at every visit. A beef tasting plate offers slices of Wagyu, Grass Fed and Grain Fed beef, giving guests a side-by-side comparison of the different flavors and pairings for beef.
"Webster's Prime offers a combination of premium beef options, innovative beef menu items, and a commitment to providing guests a variety of beef experiences," says Oeschger. "Webster's Prime truly is a leader in menuing the beef that America's farmers and ranchers work to provide every day."
