Valley Irrigation and Computronics Holdings, Ltd., have signed an agreement to add Computronics' Farmscan Variable Rate Irrigation technology to Valley's offerings throughout the world.

The technology will allow irrigators to control how much water, fertilizer and other crop management products are applied to areas as small as one square meter, says Jake Larue, Valley Product manager.

The VRI capability allows a center pivot rig to automatically turn water on or off for different zones within a circle, as when crossing drainage ditches or other non-crop areas. The same technology also allows application of different amounts of water and crop inputs on a site-specific basis, in the case of differing soil types or geographic features, and in areas more heavily seeded than others.

The Farmscan VRI products are compatible with all Valley control panels.
