USDA Reports More Feedlot Placements in January

Placements were higher than trade was expecting.

The USDA released the January Cattle on Feed Report last Friday. Expectations had been for cattle placed in feedlots to be higher, but the actual numbers were even higher than trade estimates. Dr. Ron Plain, an agricultural economist at the University of Missouri-Columbia, spoke with Farm Progress about the report and the current situation in the beef industry.
