Missouri's USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director Edward Hamill, reminds producers that the annual crop certification deadlines are quickly approaching.
Filing an accurate acreage report for all crops and land uses, including failed acreage and prevented planted acreage, are critical for FSA program eligibility.
Hamill said July 2, is the final date to report fall barley, wheat and other fall and spring seeded small grains. The normal crop reporting date for fall and spring seeded small grains is June 30, however the date falls on a weekend in 2012.
USDA Crop Certification Deadlines Approaching
Producers need to be aware that the date to report corn, grain sorghum, soybean, CRP and other acreages must be reported by July 15. This is two weeks earlier than previous years as FSA streamlined the crop reporting deadlines to be consistent with crop insurance. Since July 15 also falls on a weekend in 2012, reports will be accepted through July 16.
Hamill reminds producers to report crop losses insured through Federal Crop Insurance and the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) within 15 days of the disaster or as soon as the loss is apparent. Prevented planting must be reported no later than 15 days after the final planting date.
