Ukraine's Agriculture Ministry announced Thursday that 49.04 million metric tons of grain in bunker weight had been harvested as of Oct. 22., and increase of more than 70% from last year. The Ukrainian harvest is proceeding with 90% of the area to be harvested complete.
This year's crop is yielding 3.49 tons a hectare, compared with 2.21 tons a hectare a year earlier. The ministry expects a grain harvest this year of 49.7 million tons in clean weight compared with 29.3 million tons in 2007.
