Inventor and long time citrus grower "partner" Johnny Georges of Arcadia, Fla. exhibited his revolutionary Tree T Pee irrigation product that saves growers substantial amounts of water, fertilizer, herbicide and fuel at the 2011 World Ag-Expo in Tulare.
Georges invented the Tree T Pee and has installed it in over 5,000 acres of citrus throughout Florida. The increasing "water crisis" growers are facing across the U.S. and overseas has prompted Georges to expand the marketing of his product.
Built entirely from recycled materials the Tree T Pee is a 14-inch high, cone-shaped product that encircles the base of the tree, enabling citrus growers to concentrate water, fertilizer and herbicide at the base of young trees. "It's essentially a green house for each tree that saves tremendous amounts of water, fertilizer, herbicide and fuel. It's also a great way to protect trees when threatened by frost," says Georges. With Tree T Pee there is no waste as water and nutrients are concentrated at the base of the tree, enhancing root growth by 30% compared to traditional methods.
Growers who use the product report savings of up to 90% across the board on water, fertilizer and fuel. "I invite anyone to visit my web site or to talk with my customers since growers that use Tree T Pee are by far my best sales representatives," says Georges. "Instead of using 10,000 gallons of water per tree per year without Tree T Pee, with it we are now using only 800 gallons per tree per year and watering more efficiently."
While citrus growers have been the primary users to date, Georges has begun to see growing interest and Tree T Pee usage from peach, pecan, jatropha and olive tree growers from across the country.
Tree T Pee lasts, too. Georges estimates the average product will function for 20 years and guarantees them for a 15 year period.
