It is fair season again. This year, the N.C. State Fair is adding an extra day to give fair-goers even more opportunity to enjoy the fun. The extra day, Thursday, Oct. 16, will be called Preview Day.

"The Fair is such a popular event for many North Carolinians that we felt an additional day is warranted to allow people as much time as possible to enjoy it," said Wesley Wyatt, State Fair manager. Preview Day will also feature discounted gate admission and a wrist band for unlimited rides, which will cost $25 and will only be available on this date. Gates will open on Preview Day at 3 p.m., and the exhibit halls and Midway will open at 4 p.m.

Some crowd favorites will again be making their appearances at the fair this year. The Circle C Racing Pigs are perennial favorites that will be back to provide laughs and thrills.

Make sure to attend the exciting BMX stunt show. That show along with tractor pulls and demolition derbies will be held in the grandstand.

And 13 music acts are slated over the course of the fair, including Bobby Flay on October 20 and Montgomery Gentry on October 26. Ticket prices for the shows are varied but Bobby Flay tickets can now be purchased online for $22 and Montgomery gentry tickets are $31.50. Some shows, like Heidi Newfield, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 19, are free.

The N.C. State Fair will be held at the N.C. State Fairgrounds Oct. 16-26. For more information and to buy discount tickets, go to www.ncstatefair.org.
