The Texas Farm Bureau Friends of Agriculture Fund, Inc., has endorsed two statewide incumbents in their 2010 re-election bids.
Commissioner of Agriculture Todd Staples and Comptroller Susan Combs got the nod from the political action arm of the state's largest farm organization.
"Texas farmers and ranchers have no better friend than Commissioner Todd Staples," says Kenneth Dierschke, president of the Texas Farm Bureau and AGFUND. "He has promoted Texas agricultural products around the world, courageously spoken out on the issues that impact Texas farm and ranch families, and has responsibly used his platform as Commissioner to promote agriculture in Texas and the nation."
In endorsing Combs, Dierschke cites her efforts to assist farm and ranch families with information regarding property tax issues, and her history as a former agriculture commissioner.
"Susan Combs is a tireless worker and excellent manager in her current office of Comptroller," he says. "Since her days as agriculture commissioner, she has been an outstanding public servant. She has earned the trust of the public and the endorsement of AFFUND."
AFFUND is Texas Farm Bureau's political action fund. It is a legal entity separate from the Texas Farm Bureau and may endorse and contribute financially to political candidates.
