Soybean Rust Identified in Tennessee

Tennessee Department of Agriculture officials received confirmation today from the USDA that samples from a soybean field in Shelby County tested positive for Asian soybean rust.

The samples were submitted by Melvin Newman, a University of Tennessee Extension plant pathologist.

Tennessee is the ninth Southeastern state to test positive in recent weeks for the potentially devastating disease.
