Soybean Cyst Nematode Field Days Aug. 27-30 In Nebraska

Workshops will be at four Nebraska farms where you can learn about SCN and get a free sampling kit.

It's estimated that in 2011 soybean cyst nematodes cost Nebraska farmers more than $45 million in lost yields. Identifying fields where they're present and implementing management measures can help you recapture this lost yield.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension will be hosting a series of meetings later this month in central and eastern Nebraska to help producers learn more about managing this pest. At each site you will be able to:

*See SCN-resistant and susceptible soybean varieties
*Examine cysts on infested soybean plant roots
*Learn how to identify and manage SCN infestations

John Wilson, UNL Extension educator, discusses soybean cyst nematode infestations during a field day.
