Raven Industries says its Slingshot application programming interface is now being used by AgIntegrated's OnSite to improve agricultural file management and communications to and from the field. Slingshot is an invisible software-to-software interface that allows a simple avenue for one software system to communicate with another.
OnSite is a cloud-based mobile and desktop app capable of communicating directly with Raven computers for more efficient data transfer and location of equipment in the field. OnSite works seamlessly and in the background through Slingshot and connects producers with smart phones and other mobile technology.
Paul Welbig, Director of Slingshot Operations for Raven, says ""AgIntegrated's implementation of OnSite is a great example of Slingshot at work.
"Slingshot provides the wireless connection to the hardware in the field and provides a great connection for AgIntegrated to give its customers a seamless solution," he adds.
Welbig notes the collaboration is evidence a shift is occurring in agriculture whereby software and technology providers are focusing more on their areas of expertise and becoming more willing to cooperate and integrate with one another to meet industry demands.
At AgIntegrated, Mike Santostefano, director of marketing, says the collaboration will benefit "people responsible for adopting and embracing precision agriculture," such as precision ag specialists, sales people, agronomists, consultants, operators and growers.
