Applications for direct farm loans will be a lot simpler in 2008 because of the Farm Service Agency's effort to cut through some of the red tape by reducing the amount and complexity of the forms. FSA Administrator Teresa Lasseter is very pleased by the streamlining of the farm loan system.

"We're always pleased when we are reducing the number of pages in the code of Federal regs," Lasseter says. "It was reduced by 80% and we've cut back from nearly 40 handbooks to just six handbooks, so we feel like we've made a lot of progress in simplifying this program and making it easier for our borrowers to understand."
