Students who are entering at least their second year of undergraduate work in an agriculture-related field are eligible to apply for the National Corn Growers Association's Academic Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship Program. Sponsored by BASF, five $1000 scholarships are being awarded.

"For most students $1000 would probably cover their books," says Matt Gibson, Chairman of NCGA's Grower Services Action team. "And that is significant. A lot of times scholarships or grants to college cover a lot of things, but they don't cover books. So, if we can buy students books for a year, that's fantastic."

Recipients will be recognized at the Commodity Classic in Nashville in February. Applicants or a parent must be members of NCGA to qualify. Entries must be postmarked by Feb. 1, 2008. For an application and complete rules, click HERE.
