During the Farm Progress Show and Husker Harvest Days we were able to show a lot of readers our new Web sites. And there was one tool we're offering that caught a lot of people's eyes - the Alert function.
Located in the Risk Management section of the site - it's the far right tab as shown below - you'll find the "Alert" tab. Click on that and you'll find the ability to set up an alert to be sent to your cell phone when the market makes a specific move.
For example, say you have a contract price you're looking to see on the Chicago Board based on local basis. If there's a price you want to be alerted to, you can sign up on the system, pick the specific contract by commodity and contract, and then pick the market alert you want.
There are four alert status choices:
- Price is less than or equal to a specific total
- Price is greater than or equal to a specific total
- Change is less than or equal to a specific total
- Change is greater than or equal to a specific total
Click on the 'Alerts' tab to take advantage of a new free service we're offering from www.FarmProgress.com.
Choose the market move you're watching and you'll get a text message when the market offers that information. These alerts could be helpful in a number of ways, from hitting local price totals, or seeking alerts for changes that could be helpful for your grain risk management plan.
You're busy. You don't have time to sit by the terminal watching the market move. Heck, sometimes you don't even have time to log in by phone to see the market. But if a text message could alert you to a market move, would that have value? Give it a try to find out.
This is a new FREE service that's part of the new www.FarmProgress.com. Check it out, give it a try and let us know what you think.
If you have comments or questions about the site, just send a message to firstname.lastname@example.org. And we'll respond as soon as we can.
