Members of the Kansas Farmers Union will convene to set policy for the coming year on Jan. 9 and 10 at the Grand Prairie hotel in Hutchinson.
This year's convention will offer a shorter schedule, fewer speakers and more time for discussions and sightseeing. The convention banquet will be held in the Salt Mine Museum, giving attendees a chance to enjoy a tram tour of the Salt Mine and a tour of the museum as part of the banquet program.
Policy and by-laws statements for 2009, election of officers and board members for the coming and the selection of delegates for the national convention will be on the agenda.
Stan Brown, Midwest Regional Manager for Farmers Union Insurances, will give the annual Insurance Report and Adrian Polansky, Kansas Secretary of Agriculture, will report to the delegates and guests.
The Grand Prairie Hotel will hold a block of rooms until Dec. 26, so people wanting to participate in the convention should plan to make reservations before that date.
Participants are also requested to fill out a meal registration form to help insure that the hotel gets an accurate count. Means can be paid for during convention registration. The form can be obtained by contacted the Kansas Farmers Union State Office at 620-241-6630 or by emailing email@example.com.
