Although Thursday night's closed-doors meeting of agricultural leadership from the House, Senate and Administration did not arrive at a final price tag for the Farm Bill, progress was made according to Kate Cyrul, spokesperson for Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Tom Harkin, D-Iowa.

"Negotiations are on-going," Cyrul says. "The Senate is preparing a proposal to present to the House by the close of business today [Friday]."

During a press briefing Thursday, Harkin said that more than the $6 billion above baseline in the House framework was needed and that there was strong interest in the Senate to increase that number.
