Nineteen pork producers representing 17 states who are participating in this year’s checkoff-funded Pork Leadership Academy course traveled to San Francisco recently to learn about niche markets and other Pork-Checkoff-funded programs.
While in San Francisco, they participated in a California agriculture tour which included a stop at Scott Lang’s, farm processing facility and retail shop. PLA members also toured Hilmar Cheese Company and learned about what Hilmar is doing to educate the non-farming public.
In addition, National Pork Board staff provided environmental and educational updates.
The PLA participants also participated in a team building exercise and were treated to lunch with Celebrated Chef Suzette Gresham.
