Two days filled with presentations on the latest precision agriculture machinery technologies, advances in software and computer hardware, advanced economic analysis, and on-farm research is in store for Kansas farmers attending the Kansas Agricultural Technologies Conference in Junction City on Jan. 21-22.

This the 19th year for the conference, which lis an applied workshop consolidating information about new and old technologies with a focus on supporting scientifically alid on-farm research efforts and increasing overall farm business profitability.

Throughout the conference, there will be presentations from members of the Kansas Agricultural Research and Technology Association who will share the results of their own on-farm research, conducted with financial help from KARTA.

Other farmers will offer help on how to utilize technology and to collect and utilize data in a way that can benefit farming operations.

The conference will open at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, with registration.

AT 9 a.m., Tim Marquis, with Weather Decision Technologies, will offer a presentation on how using weather data can make a difference in precision agriculture.

At 10:45 a.m., Joe Lauer with the University of Wisconsin, will talk about the realities of precision agriculture for corn and offer "A Case Study of Variable Rate Seeding."

Afternoon presentations will include the presentations by 2015 research grant participants, a presentation on Seeding Technology for the Present and Future by Randy Taylor of Oklahoma State University. At 4:30 p.m., conference attendees will get an update on the Kansas Windbreak Crop Yield Study.

A business meeting will be held at 4:45, followed by dinner and social hour with a presentation at 7:30 p.m. from the KARTA members who traveled to Germany for this year's Agritechnica event.

Presentations on Friday will include "Precision Agriculture Implementation on an Oklahoma Farm" by Levi Johnson of Johnson Farms at 8:30 a.m. and Site-Specific Weed Management by Anita Dille of Kansas State University.

More research presentations from grant recipients will come from 11:15 a.m.

Afternoon presentations will include Multi-Hybrid Planting with Jason Webster with Becks Hybrids and more presentations with grant recipients.

Presentations from vendors participating in the concurrent trade show will also be part of the formal agenda and conference attendees will have ample time to visit with vendors and presenters and get their questions answered.
