Expo features world's largest pork-specific trade show at the Iowa State fairgrounds.

World Pork Expo, which features education, networking opportunities and the world’s largest pork-specific trade show, is June 8-10 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.

The trade show features more than 310,000 square feet of exhibits showcasing products, services and technologies from around the world. Trade show hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on June 8-9, and 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. on June 10.

More than 20,000 pork producers and other professionals attend the annual show. Advance registration is open through June 2, with a discounted rate of $10 for ages 12 and older, which covers all three days of Expo. The on-site admission price is $20, with a special Friday-only rate of $10.

Junior National

The World Pork Expo Junior National, hosted by the National Junior Swine Association and Team Purebred, set new records in 2015 with 975 youth from 29 states participating in educational programs, competitions and hog shows. In all, 2,200 hogs were shown, marking a 38% increase from 2014. This year’s schedule will run from June 6-10 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

Expo events

-MusicFest is June 9. It features free roast pork and refreshments along the Grand Concourse.

-The World Pork Open Clay Target Championship, a five-person-team shootout, is June 9.

-The World Pork Expo golf outing is June 8.

-Pre-Expo tours are June 6-7. There are two tour options. One features a stop at the DuPont Pioneer Research and Development Center. A second features stops in Iowa, Illinois and Indiana.
