Nominate a 'Resistance Fighter' Today

Syngenta program that promotes weed management by highlighting successful advisers enters fifth year.

Is there a 'resistance fighter' near you? It's possible. If you know of a crop adviser who's great at helping you stop weed resistance issues, that adviser/agronomist/retailer could be the next Resistance Fighter of the Year as honored by Syngenta.

The program, entering its fifth year, honors two winners - one from the North and another from the South. Eligible candidates include accredited farm managers, crop consultants, retailers and county extension agents. In announcing the program, Syngenta notes there are 14 different resistant weed species now spanning 30 states. These resistance fighters are an important part of the "war" on those weeds.

You can learn more about the issue by visiting Be a Part of the Solution, a website Syngenta sponsors that talks about the fight against herbicide resistance. RFOY winners serve as spokespeople for resistance management at key industry tradeshows and interact with resistance management thought leaders. Winners also receive an all-expenses-paid trip in January 2014 to the Syngenta Vero Beach Research Center in Florida.
