A new safety program will help raise public awareness about underground utility safety and the importance of safe excavation practices. The program, which is the product of a partnership between the Progressive Agriculture Foundation and the Common Ground Alliance, will be presented during Progressive Agriculture Safety Days.

"No one moves more dirt than America's farmers and ranchers," says Common Ground Alliance president Bob Kipp. "Teaching rural children the importance of safe excavation practices around underground utilities will keep families, communities and farms safe now and for future generations."

"Having CGA's support and guidance for this curriculum will help us properly educate rural Americans about safe procedures when excavating or working with or near underground utilities on or near their farm or ranch," says Randy J. Bernhardt, executive director-development, Progressive Ag Foundation.

Each year the Progressive Ag Foundation makes possible more than 350 Safety Days around the country, teaching children and adults about safe practices in and around farms, ranches and homes.

Individuals and organizations interested in supporting the effort or in hosting a Safety Day should call 888-257-3529 or visit www.progressiveag.org for more information.
