New Kuhn Fertilizer Spreader

New series to replace MDS 5 Series machines with improved material handling.

Published on: Jun 24, 2011

The new MDS xx. 1 Series fertilizer spreader from Kuhn North America replaces the company's MDS5 Series machines for improvements in flow control and material handling.

Available in working widths from 33' to 59' and capacities from 17.5 to 67 cubic feet, the new MDS models offer Direct Flow Control for easy and accurate adjustment of application rates and distribution settings from one field to another. The slow-rotating agitator provides gentle handling of seed and fertilizer while maintaining consistent flow without plugging.

To provide a long working life, the agitator shafts are crafted from stainless steel along with the hopper bottom and other wearing parts. Spreader frames are welded and equipped with a removable hopper for easy maintenance. The low-maintenance cast iron gearbox runs in an oil bath for reliability and longevity.

An optional attachment is available for precise spreading on two rows. On MDS 10.1 to 12.1, the narrower hopper provides easy access and applications to orchards, vineyards and other speciality crops.
