Patricia Klintberg was named the director of USDA's Farm Service Agency's Office of External Affairs last week by FSA Administrator Teresa Lasseter. Klintberg takes over from acting director Kent Politsch, who has been in the position since former director Richard Jefferson left for the private sector.

"Tricia's dedication to serving the interests and needs of producers spans a 20-year career as an award-winning agricultural journalist, reporting about farm programs and FSA conservation programs, in addition to her top-notch commitment here at USDA as director of Constituent Affairs the past seven years, working directly with farmers, ranchers and farm and commodity groups," Lasseter said. "I am pleased she will remain within USDA as a valuable addition to the FSA team."

Daily operations of FSA's Executive Secretariat, Public Affairs and Communications, Freedom of Information Act and Legislative Liason offices will be under the supervision of Klintberg, as will Web site content, news releases and other informational materials.
