Farm Service Agency County Committee Chairman Fred Wilkinson announces that Katie Nuffer was selected as the new County Executive Director for Humboldt and Lander counties in Nevada.
She is a native of Humboldt County and grew up on a cow/calf operation in Winnemucca, Nev.
Nuffer's background includes a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science-Production from the University of Idaho-Moscow. She joined the Farm Service Agency in 2005 as a program technician.
She advanced to a county office as a trainee where she learned to become a county executive director and assisted offices throughout the states of Nevada and California.

Before accepting her new position, she served as the State Disaster Program specialist and will continue those duties on a limited basis.
Clint Koble, Nevada State Executive Director, says "Our FSA Team in Nevada has a stronger team with the addition of Katie in this critical county position."
Nuffer will manage farm program service delivery to producers in both counties with the help of Denise Cerri and Marilyn Jones, program technicians. Daniel Ferraro, farm loan officer trainee, is also available to assist producers with the financial needs of their businesses.
Katie and her team encourage producers to stop by the office any time for program information or call for an appointment for more detailed discussions.
In April, prior to her promotion, Nuffer issued a press release announcing that Nevada has been granted authority to conduct a Livestock Forage Program signup, which ends this month.
The LFP provides payments to eligible livestock producers who have sustained livestock grazing losses due to drought or fire. Eligible producers include beef and dairy cattle, swine, sheep, goats and poultry as well as alpacas, buffalo, beefalo, deer, elk, emus, horses llamas and reindeer.
