Land-grant Cooperative Extension programs across the country are teaming up to offer dozens of useful articles on how to manage money through tough times. And they are easily accessible and downloadable via the Internet. Or you can get them free through county Extension offices.

The Web site, "Financial Security: Managing Money in Tough Times," is found at The initiative is part of eXtension, a nationwide interactive learning environment.

There you find articles on all facets of personal finance, organized for business, family, farm/ranch, individual and youth resources. The reports and articles reflect the "best of the best" information from university-based extension experts on financial matters, says Marilyn Corbin, associate director of Penn State Cooperative Extension.

The site also offers timely financial tools such as PowerPay debt-reduction calculation software, homebuyer education, bankruptcy-prevention education, agribusiness decision-making tools and many other financial resources, as well as an "ask-the-experts" function for more in-depth questions.
