A well-known North Carolina beef producer from Warrenton has been appointed to a three-year term on the Cattlemen's Beef Promotion & Research Board, which oversees administration of the national Beef Checkoff Program.

Ernest Harris, also known as E.B. Harris, is a third-generation cow-calf beef producer  who lives on a family farm established in 1916. He is also a well-known auctioneer and president of E.B. Harris, Inc. Auctioneers.

Harris participated in a new-member orientation in Denver in April. He will attend his first meeting of the full Beef Board at the Cattle Industry Summer Conference on July 31.

As a member of the Beef Board, Harris is one of 106 producers and importers nationwide, representing all cattlemen on recommendations about how to invest national beef checkoff dollars.
