A beef producer from North Carolina will soon become the first National Cattlemen's Beef Association president from the Southeastern region in over 20 years. John Queen, a cattleman from Waynesville, N.C., will be inaugurated as president during the upcoming 2007 Cattle Industry Annual Convention and Trade Show, Jan. 31-Feb. 3, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Queen, a cow/calf producer, is owner of John Queen Farms and also owns and operates an auction barn. He is also the owner/operator of Southeast Livestock Exchange, a video-telemarketing company.

Producers in the southeast are also excited this year because the national organization's annual convention will be in Nashville. The four-day event will be at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center, present-day home of the Grand Ole Opry.
