New 'third party' nutrient management tool provides information, then puts the decision in farmers' hands.

Agrible now offers a nitrogen and phosphorus management program inside Morning Farm Report. “We wanted to provide a back-up for growers in regards to nutrient management,” says Lea Potter, Agrible sales and marketing manager. “We know farmers are smart about nutrient decisions, but we want to be in their court and confirm that as a third party.”

The Advanced Nutrient Engine app provides a 14-day outlook for famers to plan fertilizer applications. The model forecasts nitrogen and phosphorus loss by day, nutrient needs to maturity, availability of nitrogen and phosphorus in inorganic and organic form and uptake efficiency.

Agrible provides the information, you provide the decision.

“They’re not really trying to tell you what you need to apply,” says Jeremy Wolf, who farms near Homer.
“They’re trying to predict it, but you’re still making your own decisions. It functions different from other nitrogen programs.”

Wolf tried DuPont Pioneer’s Encirca and Climate Corporations Nitrogen Advisor last season, but felt the programs didn’t provide the value he was looking for. Wolf has high expectations for Agrible’s nutrient engine after testing out other applications in the bundle for the past several weeks. “Everything I’ve seen with this program is spot on,” Wolf notes.

“We’re sticklers for accurate data,” Potter explains. “We have a few full-time atmospheric scientists on staff who understand which models are accurate and quality-check the data to create the most accurate forecast we can possibly have.”

Potter says the price structure is also different from other companies. For the Morning Farm Report with the Advance Nutrient Engine option, farmers pay $2,000 a year to enroll their entire farm. This AgriBundle option also includes: field-level forecasts, pest alerts, nutrient management models, field-specific spray conditions and more.

Agrible was founded by a group of agricultural engineers from the University of Illinois who specialized in crop, soil and water modeling.
