Montana Pasta Firm A Growth Through Ag Project Winner.

A Beaverhead County meat processing facility and an organic artisan pasta company in Whitefish are among 10 recipients awarded grants or loans totaling $286,000 via Montana's Growth Through Agriculture funding program.

The goal of the GTA program is to strengthen and diversify the state's ag industry through development of new products and processes, explains David Tyler, chairman of the Montana Agricultural Development Council which provides the grants.

Among the grant and loan recipients are the following:

Dell Center: $30,000 grant-loan to assist with construction of a meat processing plant.

Flathead Valley Community College: $18,200 to help with consultant costs related  to development and implementation of a new multi-functional farm, ag enterprise curriculum that helps farmers develop new income streams.

Dairy operation expansions are among the projects receiving grants from Montanas Growth Through Agriculture funding.

Global Agro Commodities: $50,000 to help the company process and export pulse crops to India, with engineering costs and equipment purchases needed to renovate an elevator .

Great Northern Pasta Company: $49,900 to help with equipment and construction costs associated with expansion of an organic artisan pasta company.

Headframe Spirits: $33,250 to help with marketing costs to assist a micro-distillery with regulatory reporting, inventory and production management.

Kalispell Kreamery: $35,570 to help the dairy and creamery with purchase of a rotary yogurt cup filler equipment to expand its product line.

Lake County Community Development Corp. & Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center: $7,500 to assist the Food and Agricultural Development Center in Ronan with a market analysis study to determine feasibility of a Western Montana value added dairy co-op

Lakeland Feed and Supply:  $30,000 to assist with costs if certification to improve manufacturing, increase productivity and compete in reaching new customers.

On the Rise Bakery: $24,000 to assist in  buying and installing an oven to expand artisan bread production.                  

Western Montana Growers Cooperative: $7,665  to complete a feasibility study  to address growing warehouse and storage needs.
