According to Monsanto, the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division has closed its inquiry into possible antitrust allegations of Monsanto's herbicide industry. The inquiry was closed with no actions required by Monsanto.
"We’re pleased that the Justice Department has closed its inquiry and this issue is now behind us," says Hugh Grant, Monsanto’s Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
The investigation began in March of last year involving "possible anticompetitive conduct in the glyphosate-based herbicide industry." Glyphosate is the main ingredient used in Monsanto's patented Roundup.
