U-M Beef Team leads sessions at 10 locations across the state throughout the month of February.

Members of the University of Minnesota Beef Team are gearing up for the 2014 annual Minnesota Cow/Calf Days.

Beginning Feb. 10, they begin their trek across the state to bring the latest information to the state's beef produers.

Minnesota Cow/Calf Days is a one-of-a-kind program, according to organizers. Although other universities in other states have Extension programming that targets cow/calf producers, the Minnesota Cow/Calf Days is the largest program of its kind, taking place at 10 locations throughout the state and attended by more than 550 farmers and ranchers.

Various topics important to cow/calf producers are covered during the two-week tour: Reproduction, nutrition, genetics, herd health, forage and pasture management, and economics.

New in recent years has been the addition of short presentations by such entities as the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, Minnesota Board of Animal Health, and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Services to update beef producers on new government programs or various other emerging issues.

The 2014 Minnesota Cow/Calf Day program will feature a line-up consisting of all U-M Beef Team members. Producers will have the opportunity to meet new team members Eric Mousel and Nicole Kenney-Rambo.

Here is the complete agenda:
