The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is in the process of conducting its annual pesticide and fertilizer use survey of Minnesota farmers.

The 2013 survey is directed to corn growers in the state and is conducted for MDA by the National Agriculture Statistics Service out of their regional offices in Missouri. The survey process should be complete in May.

This time of year, Minnesota farmers may be getting calls from multiple agencies and companies conducting a variety of different surveys. MDA Pesticide and Fertilizer Management Director Greg Buzicky says farmers who are getting multiple survey calls may be hesitant to provide information. Buzicky reminds Minnesota farmers that MDA has conducted this annual survey for the past ten years and he encourages them to do so again this year.

"Our survey is completely voluntary and we do not ask personal questions," said Buzicky. "We are gathering annual data that helps us track the use of agricultural chemicals on Minnesota farms."
