The Michigan Corn Growers Association (MCGA) has announced the recipients of the 2013 MCGA scholarship award program. This year, the MCGA awarded nearly $9,500 in scholarships to 15 talented students throughout Michigan.

The MCGA scholarship committee consisted of board members: Ed Breitmeyer, committee chair and a corn grower from Buckley; Alvin Ferguson, MCGA secretary and a corn grower from Allenton; and Dan Cable, a corn grower from Maybee.

"We received many scholarship applications and were very impressed by the high caliber of the students applying," Breitmeyer says. "Serving on the MCGA scholarship committee is very rewarding. We get the chance to meet the students who are the future of agriculture and this country. The only downside is deciding which ones will receive scholarships."
