Landoll Launches Redesigned Drills

5000 Series grain drills from Landoll increase seed placement accuracy with new design.

Published on: Jul 8, 2013

Seed placement with a grain drill has become more important as farmers strive for improved stands for a wide range of drilled crops. Landoll steps up with a redesigned system in its new 5000 Series Grain Drills. The company offers its 'all purpose air spring opener system' which it calls the only system of its kind in the industry, and that's been modified to include an all-new fluted seed metering system. That fluted design offers better seed singulation and improved population control.

In a release announcing the new drill, Alan Gengler, Landoll product engineer for tillage and seeding equipment, comments: "We've gone to an extremely fluted seed meter and, at the same time, literally doubled the number of flutes on each metering wheel. The seed meter opening is also wider, which allows the producer to control seed population through both opening size and speed. The other benefit is that this new meter gives producers a wider range of seed sizes and the ability to accurately seed higher plant populations."

INNOVATIVE REDESIGN: The New Landoll 5000 Series Grain Drills feature a number of enhancements, including a v-bottom seed box design that prevents seed tents for easier cleanout. The drills in sizes ranging from 10-ft. rigid to 40-ft. folding models.

The new series also include a Loup Monitor as standard equipment for in-cab monitoring of drill performance, including seed population, seed sensors and hopper levels. This allows the operator to review field acres, total acres covered and more, all from the cab.

The drill series is available in sizes ranging from a 10-ft. rigid model through a 40-ft. folding design. The redesigned grain drills also feature a range of small improvements including standard LED lights, new lid handles and lid cylinder brackets, heavier transport lock bracket, larger wheel spindles and larger radial transport tires.
