John Deere announced Wednesday it is developing and field testing a new cotton picker that features and on-board module builder that poly-wraps round modules.
In a press release, the company says its machine produces round modules that are consistent in size and density and are designed to help protect overall lint quality.
Deere officials say the company is testing several prototypes of these harvesters with producers and ginners across the Cotton Belt, and working with universities and other industry partners to ensure the machine meets reliability and performance needs of the industry.
The announcement comes on the heels of Case IH's recent announcement of its decision to market a module-building picker in the U.S. and Australia.
