The MSUE Field Crops Team along with the Eaton County MSU Extension will host the 2012 Integrated Crop and Pest Management Update, Dec. 14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Michigan State University (MSU) Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education.
Participants will receive the MSUE 2013 recommendations for potential pest problems, fertilizer practices and weed control. This program is intended for agribusiness, pesticide sales and service professionals, private crop consultants, field crop educators and farmers.
One of the major objectives is to provide the agribusinesses with MSU recommendations in a timely fashion so they can make year-end business decisions and get ready for the 2013 season. The industry is reacting to drought induced yield losses, high commodity prices, rising input costs, rapidly evolving technologies and potential pest problems.
The agenda includes a review of the unprecedented drought season and a discussion on the 2013 MSUE recommendations. MSUE specialists will be on hand to answer participant's questions. This year's event will also feature Dr. Bob Nielsen from Purdue University and other prominent speakers. Participants will receive MDA and CCA pesticide re-certification and MAEAP phase 1 credits at this session.
