The Farm Progress Show, along with Morton Buildings, is proud to have Tommy Garland present his horsemanship demonstrations during the show. Garland will be holding his demonstrations on the Morton Buildings exhibit located at the intersection of Sixth Street and Central Avenue on lot #534. Garland will present a morning session beginning at 11:00 a.m. and an afternoon session at 2:00 p.m.
Confidence, patience and respect has been Garland's approach to horse training. Over the last 25 years, Tommy has applied his CPR Horsemanship philosophy to his own professional career and has proven its success with multiple National and International Championship titles in both Western Pleasure and Hunter Pleasure.
Patience is the key
At Garland's CPR Horsemanship clinics, he explains to his audience that they need to have confidence in themselves as horsemen. By having confidence in yourself and in what you are asking your horse to do, your horse will have confidence in you as well. This isn't going to happen overnight. It's going to take patience, the P in CPR horsemanship. The most important goal you must have is to gain your horse's respect. If you don't have respect from your horse, he is going to take advantage of you. But once he has respect, he will give you his attention and listen to what you are asking him to do.
A lifetime of hard work, an unfailing determination to succeed, and the encouragement and support of a loving family -- couple these traits with an easy sense of humor and a humble spirit and you will understand the secrets behind Tommy Garland's remarkable career as America's Champion Horseman.

In addition to working with horses during his demonstrations, "Stevie" will also be on hand.
