Hoober, Inc, the Mid-Atlantic's largest farm equipment dealership, is on a run. In June, the company with six dealer/service locations in Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland announced new acquisitions and locations. It added the Cavalier International stores in Ashland and Wakefield, Va., to its network.
Last week, Chuck Hoober, lead partner in the family-owned business, announced an agreement to acquire specific assets of H.B. Duvall, Inc., Frederick, Md., effective Aug. 26. Those assets include the Case IH agriculture dealer contract covering the north and central regions of Maryland plus several West Virginia counties.
Hoober will also acquire Duvall contracts for Great Plains and Land Pride, among others. H.B. Duvall will retain dealership contracts for Cub Cadet, Yanmar, trailers by DTE, Maxum, Pequea, Buyers Snow Equipment and Redneck Trailer Parts.
"We already work with several ag producers and commercial providers in the region, so acquiring the Case IH contract, along with the others, makes a lot of sense for us," says Hoober. "It's a very natural fit."
The change will benefit H.B. Duvall customers, adds Duvall's John Bare. "We knew there were product lines that we wanted to retain and we're excited about the opportunities that lie ahead of us in those areas.
"Hoober was an obvious choice," he notes. "They're known for outstanding customer service in all areas."
Initially, Hoober, Inc. will lease space at H.B. Duvall's current location, providing a local parts depot while Hoober searches for a new store location. Until a new store location is established, Hoober's Chambersburg, PA and Intercourse, PA locations will provide service, sales, and precision agriculture support for the region.
Meanwhile, H.B. Duvall will continue to operate out of its present location. It'll provide parts, sales, and service for lawn and garden, compact tractor, and trailer customers.
"Hoober will have mobile parts, service and product support for the region, the full range of precision ag capabilities, plus a strong lineup of new and used equipment," reports Scott Hoober, who oversees Hoober, Inc. operations for Hoober, Inc. "We have the resources to provide customers everything they need during our search for a permanent location."
