The High Plains Underground Water Conservation District Board of Directors will hold a Feb. 19 public hearing to consider rule amendments allowing a one-time only extension of the deadline for submitting production reports to the district for ground groundwater produced in 2012.
The hearing is set for 10 a.m. in the A. Wayne Wyatt Board Room of the High Plains Water District office, 2930 Avenue Q, in Lubbock, Texas.
The proposed amendments allow for a one-time-only extension of the deadline to submit production reports to the High Plains Water District for groundwater produced during calendar year 2012.
The amendments would extend the March 1, 2013 deadline for submitting the annual ground water production report for calendar year 2012 to June 1, 2013.
All annual production reports thereafter would continue to be due March 1 of the calendar year immediately following the calendar year of production as provided in current District Rule 5.17 (d).
Problems with the district's meter entry website prompted the proposed rule amendments for a delay in reporting.
The proposed amendments are posted in a PDF file on the HPWD website. It is located under the "Public Hearings-HPWD Board of Directors" subhead. Proposed changes to the rules document are shown in red on the PDF.
The proposed amendments also may be requested by e-mail at email@example.com or may be viewed at the HPWD offices in Lubbock or Amarillo during normal business hours.
The Board of Directors may take action to adopt the rules amendments as proposed or may adapt them with additional changes based upon comments and discussion at the Feb. 19 hearing. The Board also may take action at this hearing or wait until another hearing or meeting at a later time and date.
The public is invited, and individuals can provide verbal or written comments.
