HCC, Inc., the primary supplier of reels for combines in North America since the 1940’s, announces a major advancement in reel performance – the ORBIT.
Anyone who has harvested with a grain or flex head knows crop hesitates in front of the auger, waiting for more crop to push it in. This is known as the “gap†between the reel feeding the crop into the header and the auger feeding the crop into the combine. This gap can slow harvest and reduce crop saved, especially in light, short or green crop conditions.
The ORBIT is an attachment for all HCC, Inc. reels built since 1990 to eliminate the “gapâ€. A track system replaces the standard eccentric that controls tine pitch. Just ahead of the auger this new track system kicks the tine back towards the auger, controlling the crop right into the auger. The auger stays full, flow is even and slugging is reduced. Feeding into the combine is continuous.
The ORBIT has been in development for about 10 years and has run successfully in many crops throughout North and South America. An ORBIT sells for $970 for headers under 21-22 foot and $1840 for longer headers.
For more information see the ORBIT at THE FARM PROGRESS SHOW. HCC, Inc. will have it on display at lot # 559.
