Texas Master Naturalist classes start Jan. 13 in San Benito, Texas.

"Classes start January 13, but the deadline to apply is January 6," cautions Mary Lou Davis, a certified Texas Master Naturalist. "And it is not limited just to people who have retired. It is limited, though, to 25 people and costs $125."

Davis says the program is open to anyone willing to invest time, money, and effort.

Jointly sponsored by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service and Texas Parks and Wildlife, the Texas Master Naturalist program begins with a 40-hour training course that includes classes and field trips.

The 2010 class begins at 6 p.m. Jan. 13 at the San Benito County Annex building and will meet for three hours each Wednesday through March 31.
