Grazing Management Workshop Is Aug. 21 in East Texas

Program will include both presentations and outdoor demonstrations.

Microsoft Word - KS Edited Final Version, Risher, 4-28-09 Producers are invited to attend a USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative workshop called "Managing My Piece of Texas" in Crockett 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Aug. 21.

The GLCI program is sponsoring the workshop which will include presentations and outdoor demonstrations by NRCS and the Texas AgriLife Extenison Service.

The morning workshop will be held at the East Texas Livestock Auction on Highway 7 West, two miles from Loop 304 in Crockett. The afternoon session will move to Jimmy Shaw's ranch two miles west of the East Texas Livestock Auction on Highway 7 West.

Landowners can expect to receive valuable information on managing grazing lands through classroom instruction during the morning session, followed in the afternoon with practical demonstrations providing hands-on forage production and management instruction in the field.

At $25 registration fee will include lunch, and also the newly published handbook titled, "Managing My Piece of Texas" or is $35 per couple (2 lunches and one book, and $10 (lunch only and no book).
